“What does dying feel like?”

He raised his vision at the sudden comment.

“Er, why?” He asked, his brow crinkled at the strawberry
blonde.

“Does it hurt?”  She said, the previous statement disregarded. He had a discomfort in his eyes at the wording.

Always getting straight to the point like usual.

“Well, it feels like the pressure is kind of lifted.” He sighed, eyes hovering back to his book, taking the moments chance to get off the topic.

“Really?”

“Really.”

Blinking, curiosity appeared at her wide pupils, glued to the ginger in the white sheets.

“How did you even survive?”

“Bad luck,” He said, “really, horrible luck.”

“But isn’t living good though?” She responded, her brow furrowed and back peeled off the back of the wooden chair, seemingly confused.

“Can’t you just fucking drop the subject?” He snapped to young female, a firm frown displayed on his brittle lips. She only frowned in return.

“You said a bad word.” She remarked, a subtle look of disapproval shown and used against him.

“Does it look like I give two fucks Vera?” He repeated, voice beginning to raise, “Does it?”

“Stop saying bad words!” She whined, lip curling at the bandaged boy, fists curled and placed in a defensive measure. Adam wasn’t very amused in the same aspects, audible grinding of his molars heard, continued to stare at the 10 year old throwing a fit.

“Shut the hell up!” He shouted, a crack in his voice rippled against his lips and forced a pathetic expression onto his face, “Just shut up!”

Vera’s fit was halted.

“Can’t you take a goddamn hint?!”

The room quickly shrouded in silence.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Three of beats passed, and the young girl scooted the chair
aside, silent.

Then she spoke.

“Who cares about you anyways?” She viciously hissed through her teeth, a hateful tone seething through loud and clear, “You’re just a big brat!”

He sat there, eyes shifting away from distraught figure who carelessly rambled all the wrong words.

She has a point.

A domino fell that day. It was a devastating one too.
